Tour Alert: NH7 Kicks Off Roadkill Tour Series!

The Supersonics NH7 Roadkill Tour

The first edition of the NH7 Roadkill Tour will feature critically acclaimed Kolkata Post-Punk act The Supersonics.

The new 2012 NH7 Roadkill Tour will see one young, Indie band embark upon a countrywide tour every two months with stops major cities around the country. This new touring format will give up-and-coming bands a chance to perform back-to-back concerts at different venues across India. The platform provides younger artists a medium to showcase their music to newer audiences and gives fans a chance to discover upcoming talent from the scene.

NH7 has signed Kolkata Post-Punk band, The Supersonics, for the first edition of the NH7 Roadkill Tour. The recently reunited quartet will play consecutive shows at Blue Frog, New Delhi (August 8), Hard Rock Café, Pune (August 9), Opus, Bangalore (August 10) and Blue Frog, Mumbai (August 11).

The Supersonics were Indiecision's Most Promising Act of 2008 and their 2009 debut album "Maby Baking" (HMV) was Indiecision's Album of the Year. The band consists of Ananda Sen (vocals, guitars), Rohan Ganguli (guitars, vocals), Nitin Mani (bass) and Avinash Chordia (drums). Mumbai Alternative-Punk Rock trio Blek will be added as a supporting act during The Supersonics’s August 11 stop at Blue Frog, Mumbai.

In addition to the musical performances, additional tour highlights will include band merchandise such as tour t-shirts, customized posters and also a free, downloadable tour EP of new and unreleased material from each band. As the series progresses, NH7 will soon add more bands to the roster and plans to expand to more cities across India.

Frontman Ananda Sen said about the tour, “We are really excited about the tour and even though it’s a pretty hectic schedule with back-to-back gigs on four consecutive days, there is nothing like being on the road playing your own songs to people who genuinely love your music. This is what we live for. We will be introducing some of the newer stuff as well as most of the old stuff. Some of the newer stuff is also very open in terms of space, so there will be some songs where after a point it will be totally improvised. This will mean that those songs will never be played the same way twice, so every city gets a unique version.”

NH7 co-founder Arjun S Ravi shared the same excitement, “NH7.in has, since its inception, been a platform for people to discover new music. The NH7 Roadkill Tour is an offline extension of that promise. And we couldn’t have asked for a better band than The Supersonics to kick off the tour series. They’re one of the most exciting new bands in the country right now and we’re sure this tour is going to earn them a bunch of new fans.”
